I am little confused regarding how I feel about this book. On one hand it was fast paced, had diversity, atmospheric, it did delivery a very action packed first installment. I enjoyed Julian and Scarlett and had fun weaving through their sexual tension, and all the twists and turns and grand presentations.
On the other hand, the descriptions of the Carnival didn’t seem like a carnival or a circus, they just seemed like a Worlds Of Wonder set. The ending kind of ruined it for me, I didn’t admire how Tella suddenly became the master architect. Also didn’t like the ending regarding Julian and Scarlett. This wasn’t a very character driven novel so I was hoping it would boil down to action, and there was a TON of action, that I really enjoyed, but the last few chapters destroyed all the adrenaline I had been feeling with respect to the plot.
And now I just feel like all my invested energy, came to naught.
Also, would like to add it doesn’t even come close to The Night Circus, with which it is mostly compared.

This was not it. I've never read a book that was so poorly explained, no reasoning, nothing. Shallow characters, boring "plot twists"... Would not recommend.

If I could give this book 10 stars, I would!! It sucked me in and left me reeling when it was over. I felt like I was there, feeling every emotion and pain. Everytime I thought I had figured it out, it told me no. Fantastic book and I can't wait to read the next ones!!
