I held it together until the end.

And then I cried like I was in that elevator.

Talk about a compulsive read!!

Wow— Long Way Down was amazing, and I feel like it should be a book found in every hand of young readers.

Heartbreaking and told in verse, I absolutely loved this book as author Jason Reynolds gives readers a glimpse into the murder that gave fifteen-year-old Will the fuel to avenge his older brother’s death.

In just a matter of 60 seconds, all is on the line as Will must struggle with a life or death decision on the way down the elevator.

The poem form of this book creates a new style that I don’t normally read. It is a very fast read, but it still has a good plot and an important message. The thoughts and the feelings that Will, the narrator go through really make him question his choice. The end also makes you question which choice he made; if he followed through with his plan.

This is by far the most unique verse novel I have ever read. Reynolds addresses very real issues in a way that forces you to suspend disbelief and expectations of realism. I loved this book so much I decided to teach it. 💞 And the audiobook is the perfect companion.

ive read two books recently written by black authors writing about young kids meeting black people who were killed, in either hate crimes or had just died. I've really enjoyed them both.

this book was really good. I quickly got through the audiobook, and it really stuck with me. I think this will be a book I remember for a long time.

More in depth review to come.
