Brilliant series - one of the few that is just as good in book and show forms! They switched readers for the last two books and while that usually throws me off in a series, the new reader has what I think (not really an experts, but I think) is a more authentic Shetland accent.

Interesting read, the ending did not truly capture my attention. It seemed to drag on for a while

The usual superb use of place, and range of characters nicely developed.

In the last book the story left off with a terrible tragedy to Detective Jimmy Perez. I wasn't sure how they were going to deal with it in this story but they did it well. Perez was grieving, living in his depression, but a murder on his island starts to bring him out of his funk. A new detective comes to town, Willow, and she's good. She manages to pique Perez's interest in the case and he begins to assist with small interviews and tasks and then he's wrapped up in it. The story was pretty good and left me guessing until the very end.

Definitely better than the last one. I was disappointed that Sandy did not have a very big role, and I'm not loving the introduction of the new Inspector. This mystery had a lot of intricacies
and was very intriguing. It was fun to get to see more of the island that Jimmy and Sandy call home and to meet more of the characters in town. The pouting about Fran did start to get old, but I'm also glad to have the reality of how hard loss really is.

Looking forward to the next one.
