Ei ole samanlaista tunnetta kuin intohimoon sukeltaminen. Kaiken näkee selkeästi vasta pinnalle päästyään. Tämä kokeneet sen tietää.

the story follows a woman participating in an affair with a married family man. the story speaks of her passion and devotion towards him, even though he’s married she shows no ill towards his wife and accepts his stories about her without complaint.
she is completely consumed by him, says the passion he invokes in her makes her more human. every thought she has is consumed by him and she loves it.
this book opened my mind up to other points of view and how love (no matter how wrong) can sweep us off our feet and take over our lives. initially i didn’t enjoy this book but i grew to really enjoy it by the end due to its unique perspective and intelligent writing.

A brief but impactful memoir about the effect of all-consuming passion on the author’s thoughts and behaviour. Alexa, play “Down Bad” by Taylor Swift.

It’s no surprise that I enjoyed it, given my love of her book Getting Lost, which is in essence a companion piece to Simple Passion. I think her writing was more visceral, more emotional, and more raw in that book — it’s one of those books that left me with a profound sense of loss after finishing it. Here, her account of the affair is sparse and more practical. It is more of a reflective piece set temporally in the year following the end of the affair.
It is interesting to note that each book has a separate translator — I wonder how much of an effect that has had on the style of prose.
