I wish I had this growing up. I'm definitely going to be gifting this to my little cousins. This is as heartwarming and poignant as I imagined it would be.

An amazing book that is going to warm up your heart and put stars in your eyes, whether you're a grown-up or a kid.

It’s not what I read but where and the mental state in which I read it.
The place was a cabin. In which we sheltered after a 30 days motorcycle trip, being on the road or in a tent all the time. We sought asylum under that roof Beside the Sevan Lake in Armenia since there was a chance of heavy rain, Simultaneous with the recent Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict. We rented the cabin from a very very Old man. Khachik barely spoke English. We communicated with a selection of words from the languages we spoke (Farsi, English, German, Turkish, Arabic, and a tiny little bit of French and Czech) and the languages he spoke (Armenian and Russian). We got along super well since he had a very warm heart.
I remember that day. Having woken up to seagulls’ and crows’ screams, having spent the day lying beside the beach, trying to walk in the icy cold lake and failing and cooking Daals on the bbq and delivering a cup to Khachik at around 9 pm.
He invited us in. We sat in front of the tv which he had bought 40 years ago from the soviet union, watching the news in Armenian, looking aT horrible pictures of war and a very frightened general reporting about the situation. I remember being scared. Scared to death I couldn’t sleep all night.
And that’s when this book kicked in.
I mean kids’ books are always a good idea in times of crisis. They bring you back to your true self and who you wish to be. No matter the context.
I’m thinking given the situation, there might be a possibility of never ever forgetting this book. :)

I put this book up there with the best of Dahl and Dr. Seuss.
Such a warm and comforting book for children.
It’s like “Reasons To Stay Alive” but for kids!
And my kids loved the artwork too.
Buy this book!

“Don't forget who you are. You are a fighter.
As the dark in the sky makes the stars shine bright,
You will find the bad stuff has good bits too.
The bad days are the days that make you you.

But you will never know happy unless you know sad.”

I've read and loved the first three Christmas books in the past, but somehow I forgot to pick up The Truth Pixie after that... I really liked her character, so I had high hopes for this one. And while I do think this isn't the strongest book of the series, I still had great fun with this story! This book is both sad and uplifting and the illustrations really make the story come alive... They definitely complement the plot very well! I'm sure children will love this book and the series in general, and it's a great one to get into that Christmas spirit. I really liked they rhyming too; very catchy!

The Truth Pixie was one of the stand out characters in Matt Haig’s Christmas series, so I was super happy that she got a short story of her own. I wasn’t expecting this little book to be in verse, so that was a lovely surprise! It’s such a sweet, quick read centring around a pretty awesome character.

The Truth Pixie is finding it hard to make connections with people around her because she has to tell the truth. As we know, lots of times the truth can hurt and so- people do not want to be around her. She’s feeling very isolated until she bumps into a sad human child named Aada. The Truth Pixie has to tell Aada the truth. However, this time The Truth Pixie’s truth is given with wonderful advice. The Truth Pixie guides Aada through life’s ups and downs.

It’s a beautiful short story that centres around life very much being an up and down journey. I think it’s wonderful to read to young children and very charming to read if you’re an adult!
