Book one (Hourglass) was one of the first books I read as I got back into reading (after discovering digital and seeing how easy it was to download directly from the library or Amazon). I'd liked Hourglass ok ... it had been a while since I'd read it and I really didn't remember ANYTHING. I really think any series, I do better off waiting and reading things back to back. Things didn't really come back to me (like they do in some books, or the author weaves in a recap) so I never felt like I got into the story much. Just ok.

I want to like this series. I really do. But nothing special is happening and I'm running out of patience. This book--aside from some adorable moments--was so boring. I feel like nothing significant happened. I'll read the last one out of curiosity but I'm not sure when I'll get around to it (better books to read and all of that fun stuff).

The action takes an immediate step up as the crew from Hourglass encounter Jack at a Halloween party at The Phone Company (the popular restaurant owned and run by Emerson's brother Thomas and his wife)/ This time Kaleb Ballard flirt, empath and emotional wreck, takes the leading role as time begins to fall to pieces around them.
What I Liked: The new characters (Poe, Teague and more from Liam Ballard) were fantastic and the new insights into Lily and her grandmother keep you desperate for more. Kaleb might be a more dynamic protagonist than Emerson was with his desire for martyrdom when it comes to protecting his friends, while also combating his new and very real feelings for Lily.
The plot progresses quickly after the party at the Phone Company is interrupted and life is suddenly much more dangerous than ever for the Hourglass kids. This time failure will mean a death they can't prevent and even further deterioration of time. In Hourglass only Emerson and Michael could see the time rips, courtesy of their unique time shifting abilities, but with the break down of time after Emerson's daring rescue in the last book, anyone with the time gene can see a rip, and they're getting bigger.
Determined to go to any length to protect each other, and ultimately the world, from Jack's manipulations of time, Kaleb and the gang take dangerous chances without any real knowledge to keep them safe.
What I didn't Like: Ava. Who is this girly? It feels like she is just popping up to act as an annoying romantic antagonist even though none of the male leads have any real interest in her. Her pointless existence annoys me and I get the sinking feeling that Ava will be the protagonist in the final book, Infinity Glass.
I could also do without the one man band attitude of Liam Ballard. Mr I-keep-silent-to-protect-you knows that the Hourglass posse won't stop at his say so. He needs to talk to them and give them the knowledge that will keep them safe!

Really enjoyed the 2nd book to this series!! It's really been interesting and enjoyable going through things with a different set of eyes. At first it took me a little bit to remember who was talking; however, very enjoyable and love the storyline and the people in it! I've enjoyed the characters all that more and can't wait to get into the 3rd book!!
