Meh

Just wasn’t what I was expecting in the plot. it didn’t give me the vibe of ‘I really need to read this’ nor this plot is amazing.

I’m not giving up on this offer it’s just that I don’t think this was a good book for me to get introduced to this author.

I will read the next book in the series to give it more of a chance. I’m thinking, maybe it’s Lauren Asher dreamland series and the first book is a you either like it or you don’t but the next books the series, give you more to like.

Madeline Peters & Nova Darkmore

These two have a history that stems from Maddie’s father (who is also the Mayor) having an affair with Nova’s mom while she was working as a secretary for him when they were both younger. Things went south, and Maddie’s dad ended up firing Novas mom, leaving them nearly destitute.

Now that they’re in college, Maddie’s older brother Josh plays on the hockey team with none other than Nova Darkmore. Of course, Josh has declared a “hands-off” rule when it comes to his little sister. That doesn’t stop Maddie from putting her hands on a certain hockey player to get back at her soon-to-be-arraigned-fiancé one night during a party though, and this ends up flipping everything both she and Nova thought they felt for each other upside down. There’s also another very unique and interesting aspect that is threaded throughout the story of these two as well, but you’ll just have to read it to find out!

The enemies to lovers aspect of this makes it even better when they finally give in to the magnetic pull between them, and for that I rate it a 5/5 for spice 🌶️ who doesn’t love hate sex???

Nova even though he’s big, bad, and brooding is very into praising Maddie, and letting her know what a good girl she is any chance he gets. He’s also a fan of hand necklaces, iykyk 🥵 *swoon*

Overall, I ate this book UP. Liiiiiike stayed up all night reading just so I could finish the story, and then went to work all day on no sleep lol.

I cannot wait for Josh and Hallies book next year (The Puck Decoy)!! I’m also super invested in the other characters and teammates as well, and can’t wait to see where Gabby takes all of them!
