I've been so tired It took me forever to fnish a book that should have taken 4 nights, tops.

You need to have read Railhead to get much out of Black Light Express. That said, it's a fun sci-fi novel with a lot of action and events packed into it. You won't get bored, probably. (This most likely depends on you.) I really enjoyed this novel, which is weird, because second books in series' by Reeve rarely impress me.

A lot of nightmarish things happen in this book, but they aren't dwelled on. This was a minus for me, as I would have liked the implications of these actions to be explored further.

Some good ideas, I do not feel compelled to read the next one. The trains are very interesting and I enjoyed them immensely. Most of the characters I felt ambivalent towards.

It took a while for this one to get interesting but it ended beautifully.

Equally as good as Rail Head. I love Philip Reeve's sheer imagination. Amazing series. Looking forward to the 3rd!

3.5 Stars. Not quite as good as the Railhead, but still featuring the same fantastic world-building and marvelous characters that made me love the first book. I have to say I found the ending a bit abrupt and a tad disappointing, but still glad I took the journey.

I want to know what happens, what the world is all about, but so many of the characters are annoying and make stupid decisions that make no sense with what kind of person we are told they are...

10/10 would recommend. It’s been a while since I had read the first book and only really remembered the ending of that one. But the way that Reeve builds his worlds, I wasn’t lost at all. :)
