I have always loved stories about the WPA, and particularly love hearing stories of the Federal Theater Project and other efforts FDR made to support artists. This book showcases the abstract expressionists working at that time, and sets their creative evolution efforts against the backdrop of the US entry into WWII. Given the current feeling about immigration in the US and Europe, the book feels quite timely while still illuminating a piece of American History that I knew very little about. The ending is more than a little coincidental, but it brings closure to our main characters journeys.

I loved this one. Light historical fiction with some great stories about art. Highly recommend.
