I was skeptical going into this book but as it was free on the audible plus catalog, I thought I should give it a go. Honestly, I'm neither disappointed nor pleased with it. It has a fantastic premise - a tree nymph who just wants to make ice cream finds love in a strange, new town. Basically an urban fantasy with an accent on romance and finding love after a heart break. If this book were longer it would have probably been amazing. The creatures and the world building had so much potential. But alas, it was too short. Way too short. It achieved nothing. A wasted potential.
But if you are looking for a short clean romance audiobook you might enjoy it.

It was short and sweet.

The story wasn't long enough for me to grow attached to anyone or care too much about the town, but I was entertained.

It's just a novella, which means it was a very simple story, sweet, straight forward, and not long enough to be boring. (Or too boring?) I guess only 3 stars because it didn't leave me running for the next Mystic Bayou book.

Honestly, I think the fact that it was mostly a vehicle for introducing the characters for the other books was what made it a little lack luster.

But, there is a chance I would read the next Mystic Bayou book. So that's something.

This was one of my picks for Audible of the month. It should’ve been something I love since it’s urban fantasy-romance. It just didn’t work for me.
I wasn’t invested in any of the characters and didn’t care about the budding relationship.
