More of 2.5 star book. I’ve read a few books recently with quirky characters, and this book was mostly quirky characters…too many, in fact, with a story that was kind of sweet, but not all that interesting. Maybe I’m just quirked out.

A humorous, thoughtful book about a second~grade teacher, going from a rookie to veteran over 17 years and her on/off relationship with a man that has apparently dated all the women in the county at one time or another. A light quick read.

Thanks to my local library for a free copy. Avoid supporting the Megabook Monopoly and enjoy what your taxes actually do for you.

Washington Posts says sweetly sardonic and I don't disagree.

This was just delightful - a funny, warm book about Jane's life as a primary school teacher in a small town. The narrative moves forward a couple of years every so often, so you move with Jane through different phases of her life. It's a very gentle story that is nevertheless totally engaging.

I loved how tension builds up, but never explodes, just resolves itself peacefully.

Lovely, comforting, super readable and quick to get through. Loved the characters and would reread when I need a pick-me-up. Totally played into my love of found family and people being nice to each other, plus a very realistic reflection of primary teacher life.
