I really enjoyed the set up of this book and seeing Gaia and Jake figure things out. I think the pacing was the biggest challenge.

The premise is completely original.  It's really a slow burn magical realism book that was so cleverly woven together.  I really liked the way the characters were at times mirrors for each other's emotional hang-ups. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

I have never felt more seen in a character than I have in Gaia. It both broke my heart, and made it soar all at once! Love love love!
