Not a fan of the rushed ending.

This book is a good, well rounded take on the #MeToo movement for a young adult audience. As a journalist, some suspension of disbelief was required as things jus wouldn't progress like that in real life but I understand it is fiction and the genre doesn't really lend itself to being too accurate on all those boring details. I loved the complexities of Josie and the diversity found throughout the book, goes to show its not hard to just write characters that are reflective of our diverse world.

First half: two stars
Second half: three stars

This was quite the whirlwind of the story, some aspects that I like included the diversity, the mental health rep, the behind the scenes look of journalism,  and the well written banter between characters.

Some things that didn’t work for me was the pacing, I felt that even though we were going on a multi city adventure, it all kind of blurred together.

Also the story arch of
the main character not getting into college was all but wrapped up in like a paragraph which was kind of confusing.

Could totally see a huge number of people loving this story, just wasn’t for me unfortunately.

I thought this book was really good! I finished it in about four days. It was a really good moving story that reminded me of the #metoo movement and Harvey Weinstein. I loved how much the main character loved her job and it inspired me to start blogging again. Plus the bond between her and the other characters especially Marius was adorable. I also liked how she pointed out the nuances in acting while Black and how that adds another element. I also liked how even though she loved her body she was still insecure sometimes, I think that was really relatable as someone who doesn’t have the typical “bikini body” myself.
