  • This book was my favorite of the series so far. It was incredibly relatable both when it comes making mistakes and loneliness.
  • The banter, sarcasm and humor in this book were the best so far and was more relatable than some of the others. Both characters are assertive and really push each other.
  • This book also had a new plot twist to the series that added both character growth alongside overall series development which was awesome.
  • This is essentially an alien friends with benefits plot with trekking✨.

I have mixed feelings about Maddie, but overall, she's the fierce older sister who won't sit back and take bullshit from anyone and I can dig that. Her self-victimization gets jaded over time, though. Hassen is just a lonely guy who wants to have companion. Doesn't excuse his actions in the previous book, though.

This might be my favorite IPB book so far! Maddie's an unapologetic
bitch
and I love her. Sincerely can't wait for the next book!

He’s a 10, but he kidnapped your sister.

Thoughts 💡
As far as I’m concerned Ruby can do no wrong and if you yuck my yum on this a little tiny part of my heart will hate you.
Now, like every good blue barbarian babe (on FB go check them out), I have favorite couples. Maddie & Hassan are somewhere in the top ten. Mostly because I love Maddie’s sass and Hassan’s redemption arc. I also really like that Maddie took on a bit of a teacher role in the furs.
They are one of the kinkiest couple’s on Not Hoth and their shenanigans continue through the whole series, but to truly understand them you have to go through the emotional trauma of this book. Because yes, as fun and lighthearted and smutty as Ruby is, she threw a big old wrench into the sunshine and rainbows of this frozen world.

Note✨interconnected standalone
✨✨ Also✨The audiobooks are in the audible plus catalog.
✨✨✨ And one more thing✨ Berkley is rocking these special edition covers, I freaking love them. And they’ve added some bonus content so if you haven’t read this one yet, you should go get it.

⚠️  Ngl, Ruby hurt us all with what happened in this one.

This is probably one of my least favorite couples (I just find it hard to relate to people who want to be f*** buddies like Maddie was insistent on), but I still am glad to have read this one because around the half way point some major things happen to the tribe. If you care about continuity and overall plot with the tribe, you should read this one.

I have to say I really didn't like all the self fat shaming that Maddie did either.

What It’s About: Maddie finds herself falling for Hassen, but she has mixed feelings about it since he kidnapped her sister once. Then a disaster that affects the whole tribe changes everything.

Spice Level: Maddie and Hassen are super hot, and they get into it right away, even before they catch feelings.

Realism: This book really dives into the motivations behind actions, and how they can be good even if the action itself is bad. It actually made a lot of sense to me that these would get together, and I’m glad that they did!

Trope Alert: Enemies to lovers (if you squint at the beginning), friends with benefits.

Trigger Warnings: A big natural disaster, some death, and a lot of injury.

Final Thoughts: I’d been waiting for something big to happen because of all the dropped hints,  but good grief, I hadn’t expected this! I was freaking out waiting to find out what happened to everyone!

Eh; I said I was gonna quit after the last one but I read this one anyway. I'm getting bored - all the books are now the same with very minimal vadiations. & it's SO repetitive, even within itself not just across the series. & even though they setup a new storyline at the end, they didn't setup any new couples so it feels like a good place to stop. Overall I did like Hassan & Maddie's story though.
