What’s started to look like Jack Noble morphing into Jack Reacher mode, ended up being a great twist of storylines that was spun over the book. The back story of Jack’s sister’s death in their childhood that pushed Jack into figuring out how to use his rage and strengths was very compelling. This was intertwined with his current situation of stumbling on the bad goings on of a small Texas town as Jack is figuring how how he can truly life his life of violence to raise his daughter and lead a normal life. The writing in this book is excellent and each chapter that went back and forth between the storylines was a mini-cliffhanger. Hard to put this good down. The only detracting part of the story was the lack of clarity and a smoother handling of who the bad guys really are and why this seems to fit into a bigger storyline to come. Sure, the bad guys are really bad, it is messy what they really are in the bigger picture. Shame as it does matter for further books.

This seemed more like a Jack Reacher novel than a Jack Noble novel.
