I grew up watching Matilda more times than I could count. Besides that, I didn’t know much about Mara Wilson, except eventually following her on Twitter and being like “wow she’s funny.” This book,  which read like multiple essays, gave me more insight to Mara as a person as I learned more about her. From stories of childhood fame to receiving an OCD diagnosis, she is honest and brave in sharing her stories.

I really liked this book! It brought me back to my childhood in some parts, as Matilda was one of the few movies I watched over and over. But it was so much more than that, and I enjoyed learning about Mara's life. I appreciated her openness in talking about her mental health struggles and journey, and her views that it should be taken just as seriously as physical health. I found this a really enjoyable and true read. (Read for Book Riot Live 2016)
