I read this book for the first time in 9th grade and liked it because i wanted to know who killed Wellington. Now, I've read it again and I don't like it as much. The plot was mediocre and I hate how the main character acts.

This book presents a highly stereotypical portrayal of a male autistic savant who excels in maths and numbers while causing difficulties to his friends and family who must deal with his 'abnormal' behaviour (and have their lives torn apart as a result). It is written by someone who self-admittedly did no research and clearly has no personal experience of the condition.

I don’t know how to feel about this. I enjoyed it & basically saw the play in my head the whole time while reading it, but I can’t really be a good judge of if the representation is accurate. The main character has a real lack of empathy, which doesn’t line up with the people with autism that I know, so I’m not too sure how this goes. I did enjoy the story, though, and it’s very different.
