This book was a pleasant surprise - it is built like a formula romance but it quickly surpasses the expected tropes of the genre.

I loved this book because of the concept. It was something very different and even though it was about older people and from a male perspective I still liked it a lot. Lincoln had a good backstory which made it also interesting to read about his life apart from the e-mails. It was a little hard to get into it but you discover more about him and Beth on the way through and it makes you wonder just as much as it makes him wonder. And when Beth started having a crush on him back and when she breaks up with Chris I felt as much excitement as he did. It was also good that it wasn't all good or all bad, which made it really affect my emotions. I cried through all of the last chapters, which is the longest I've ever cried at any book. I very much enjoyed this book and I think it would come in second place behind The Crown. (AND THERE'S SO MANY GOOD QUOTES).

"The next night, Lincoln parked his Corolla right next to The Courier's front door. I'm here , he thought. Find me. Follow me. Make this inevitable. "

(Third read: I noticed how real the characters are. Like I saw a review about them being boring but that’s exactly what makes them good. They’re not overly done or overly quirky or anything, they’re just realistic.
It’s also funny how I knew exactly what was about to happen the whole book long. Like as soon as I read one sentence I was like oooh yes I know what’s happening after this. The sentences were so familiar. The only way to describe it is just that this book feels like coming home.)

Loved it. Quirky, cute, sweet- but with substance, and originality. Strong sense of place and time- Nebraska in 1999. The whole concept was intriguing and I really cared about the characters. Another book right on target by Rainbow Rowell.

Absolutely devoured this book. It’s like the flatshare by Beth O’Leary but an even slower burn. I loved Beth and Jennifer’s friendship which is explicitly shown through email, how cool!?!! And everyone loves a love-at-first-sight-and-even-before story. I also laughed out loud, literally.

3.5 out of 5. That was cute. It took me a long while to really get into it but I really did enjoy it. It's a fun little book.

3.5. Quick, fun read. The characters ended up looking completely different than how I originally imagined them.

Rainbow Rowell is on my list of favorite authors and I have loved her YA books so far. But somehow, after a negative experience with her other adult title Landline, I never actually picked up Attachments until now. As I was browsing for light and fluffy titles the other day, I stumbled upon my copy of Attachments, and I thought: why not? And it looks like I was in dire need of some Rowell medicine to cheer me up. While this story has a lot of tropes that might make me potentially hate a story (insta-love, love triangle, geek cliche, musician cliche etc etc), I somehow ended up having a blast reading Attachments. Sure, there were a lot of cliches to deal with. Sure, things did get cheesy at points. Sure, there was a love triangle vibe going on. But somehow, if you are just looking for a light, fluffy and entertaining read, this story really works. Analyzing things further, Lincoln should come over as a real creep, reading emails, living with his mom and all, but somehow I didn't mind. Trust me, I was surprised to feel this way myself. I'm not sure the whole geek vibe is credible or connects to his physical appearance (come on, we would never expect Lincoln to look as described), but like I said, if you are looking for the perfect beach read or simply want to forget about your own problems for a while, reading Attachments is the perfect option to do so.
