I enjoyed this one. There was mystery, romance and office politics. It’s definitely one of the better forest ranger stories I’ve read recently. I do have a complaint, though. I listened to the audiobook and the male and female narrator weren’t on the same page regarding character ethnicity. The female narrator really leaned into an African-American/mixed race sounding style for the characters while the male narrator didn’t. It was kind of jarring from hearing a character sound a certain way from one narrator and then like a completely different person when the other narrator reads the dialogue. Also, how much bacon was consumed during this book?

I devoured this book in two days. I immediately felt as though I was in the woods with Sierra and Forrest. The blend of romance and mystery was well done and brought depth to the novel. I enjoyed seeing Forrest realize that Sierra had more to struggle against in the workplace and made changes to his own behavior in the system. I can't wait to read the next in this series.

This was sweet. I enjoyed the chemistry and the little bit of investigation work. Fade to black romance scenes but overall decent.

ENG
that little bit of mystery made the story so much better but at the same time, the romance felt underdeveloped because of that. the forced working together where they had got to know each other was cute.

This book for some reason felt so refreshing. I loved the dynamic of the slow burn relationship between the two leads as they worked together. I loved their passion for their jobs and thought the case they were working on together was done pretty well. The setting was perfect in the story, I liked both the leads as individuals, and I understood their romantic relationship even if I wanted a bit more depth or a stronger foundation at times. I thoroughly enjoyed this and can see myself coming back to this one in the future for a reread. 🗣👥👸🏾🫅🏼🌥
