I think this was more a 3.5 star book. I was so invested in Mercy's story, her reclaiming of space, and her eventual relationship with Kendall, and I was not interested enough in the rest of the family to want to spend time with only them for the last section of the book.

Upon finishing I've had to go back to the opening chapter, because I could not figure out how it connected to the main story.

I didn't expect to love this book as much as I did. Sad but honest, vulnerable and clear, such precise storytelling.

good in some parts but mostly very long and a bit too ‘slice of life’-y

A bit slow. This book was about nothing and everything at the same time. The in's and out's of a family and the relationships each member has with another. Parts of the story were interesting and fun to read, BUT, again, there was no real point to the book. Just a story of a family and it's quirks. I also had to really pay attention to which Robby the author was talking about and who's kids were who's!

Delightful read!!! The entire book is about the Garrett family from the 1950s to the pandemic present. This book kinda reminds me of A Man Called Ove.
