I think it is me but lately all the bks I have been reading have just been ok. This one was more of the same just ok. I thought it had potential but more I got into it the less excited I was about finishing it. It was written fine overall just not quite the psychological thriller I was hoping for.

Completely consuming, couldn’t put it down! However, there seems to be an ‘extra’ plot line or two that don’t need to be included or feel like extra work. Would still highly recommend!

Awful.

I was excited for this book because I LOVE thrillers. Unfortunately... I wouldn't use that word to describe this book at all. It was a boring and frustrating read. The pacing is completely out of whack. The author is constantly telling rather than showing.

Additionally, the book frequently--every couple chapters!--doubles back and retells information you already knew. For example, half way through the author somehow decides it's necessary to remind us that Maya's parents met when her mom visited Guatemala for a mission trip... WE KNOW. It was explained exhaustively by that point. This book isn't long enough for that to be useful... Really annoying.

I love unreliable narrators but... ugh. This is just lazy writing.

I liked another review that said, "This 'thriller' was written by someone who's never read a thriller." Yep.

This book has a lot of good ideas, but they are not always well executed
