While I saw the plot twist coming a mile away, this was still such an atmospherically creepy read that I loved it. Reminded me of a combo of Flowers in the Attic and Verity!

This started out with pretty good potential to be a nice, creepy read, but by mid-way through or so, it became all about the crazy, evil mother. I’m just kind of tired of that trope. It’s.a shame, because the author does a good job with voice.

Mix young orphan with no life teenage girl, crimson peek and an unnecessary little romance and you get *The Companion*.

I enjoy it but I don’t know if I just watch and read to much thrillers that I kind of predicted most of it, although there was one thing that made my heart leaped.

Wow! This book was so good, it was the perfect fall read and it had my anxiety through the roof! The only survivor of a horrible car crash that killed her family, Margot is now an orphan at the age of sixteen. She doesn’t have any relatives able to take her in. Margot finds herself at a group home, when a college friend of her fathers John Sutton offers to take her in she feels really lucky. The Sutton’s live in a sprawling mansion called Copeland Manor. Mrs Sutton grew up in the manor. When Margot arrives she’s shocked the home is massive and has many locked doors, she’s also informed by Mrs. Sutton that Margot is going to be the Sutton’s daughters Agatha’s companion. Agatha is suffering from some type of disorder that leaves her catatonic and not able to take care of herself, the disorder came on quickly and no one knows why. Agatha doesn’t seem happy with Margot presence and struggles to tell her to “Go”. The longer Margot stays the more she feels like something isn’t right at the Copeland Manor, wings of the house remained locked. an abandoned garden, a hidden graveyard, Mr, Sutton is always gone, when Margot uncovers a book about the morality of children and a dead sister that Mrs. Sutton refuses to talk about she realizes there are many secrets in the past of the lonely house. When Agatha’s brother Barrett arrives home from boarding school, Margot finally feels like she isn’t alone or as lonely, but when Mrs Sutton sees them get close he’s sent away, with no WiFi or phone Margot begins to fear for her own life, Agatha gets worse and Mrs Sutton’s behavior begins to escalate and Margot is alone and knows she needs to uncover the secrets before it’s to late. I’m giving this book five stars, I absolutely loved this book and I could not put this book down!

So irritating.... this girl made so many mistakes and I saw so many things a mile away, you’d think she would use common sense but she didn’t.

I def enjoyed reading it enough to see where it would go.

Decent ending.

Cheesy story

I appreciate that there wasn’t any bad language in this book, but the main character was just so clueless.... I can’t give it more than 3 stars. It’s really more like 2.5.
