Let me prelude this by saying that I hate to give negative reviews of John Green's books because I truly enjoy his other works and his channel with Hank, Vlogbrothers. BUT, this book was incredibly sad and simultaniously boring. I did not like it as much as I wanted to or as much as his other works. It was good writing, but I couldn't really root for any of the characters which made it a bit boring. Daisy was an asshole which made it annoying to tolerate her presence. I did like the poetic ending though.

I didn't have much hope for this book in concern of my own taste. I cannot read books like TFIOS anymore. I've grown up, moved on to bigger and better things, but John Green stopped me in my tracks. Recently, I've been struggling with my own anxiety that is scarily similar in nature to Asa's (though definitely not on the same caliber, but similar enough).
Green's character of Asa is incredibly relatable is this respect and it's a great representation of anxiety in young adult literature. It shows the real rollercoaster of mental health and doesn't sugar coat it. It's the battles with yourself, the strain on relationships, overthinking every little thing, and the fixation.
This book is important. Read it.

Absolutely brilliant. Terrifying relatable. I may never read this book again. I’m glad I did. Five stars.
