Calder and Eden by Mia Sheridan

Everything about this was intense. The pain, anger, love, hate. They were all magnified so that every emotion could be felt by the reader. Believe me, I'd never felt contempt more than what I was feeling towards Hector. He's other-worldly in the worst way possible. There was a time when I wanted to put the book down because of how hateful some of the characters were.

Calder and Eden were the main characters but I think Xander's (Calder's best friend) character moved me more. I was actually hoping he'd have a book of his own.

But anyway, it was intensely and beautifully written. I wish I could have that spring, too.

Wow! Mia Sheridan. knows. how. to. write. a DAMN good book. I already feel a hangover coming on, but I'm too excited to start Finding Eden to dwell on it!

If you read the Delirium Trilogy and enjoyed it, READ THIS. This reminded me slightly of Delirium but it's more of a mature storyline without the love triangle (thank god).

Calder, Eden, & Xander all stole my heart the moment I met them. I wanted to reach out and help them anyway that I could and it actually hurt that I couldn't. THAT is how you tell a story. All the feels. All of them.

I have finished my rambling; onto Finding Eden! :D

I adore Mia’s work. I didn’t believe I could ever love anything more than Archers Voice, but this book.. I am completely and utterly floored. Calder is the most lovable character I’ve ever read about, his spirit, his loyalty, his heart.. So many times I said to myself, “my sweet Calder”, with tear streaming down my face.
I have never read a book like this and I devoured every word. Mia put me right in the middle of it all and I felt like I was living in this book.
I plan to read every book she’s ever written this year and I find myself saying, “how can she top this???”
I cannot wait to read Finding Eden.
Mia is my favorite author of all time, how fortunate am I to live in the same time as her and read the stories she so carefully crafts?

I DID really like this book, but it was missing something. Maybe it was because the main characters are so young...or maybe it's because it took SOOOOOOOOOOO long for them to actually be together, but it just wasn't there for me. I did think Calder and Eden are very strong characters, but up until the last bit of the book there wasn't much that happened. I didn't really feel much - aside from the obvious anxiety of them potentially getting "caught." I would say this book is a solid 3.5...the ending is what prompted me to read the sequel, but it definitely wasn't a favorite of mine.

Another excellent book by Mia Sheridan! I loved the strength both characters showed and Calder's journey from mindless cult-follower to man in love. Xander was also a gem... I would love to read some of this from his POV!

Spoiler So many of the scenes from this book keep coming back to haunt me. Calder kneeling on the floor... sleeping with the dogs... trying to escape when he hears Eden scream... tied to the tree. The storyline was so painful and the couple had to overcome so much!

This book was devastating and stunning and I kept having to take breaks from its wild, somber, and hopeless feel. I can't wait another second to start book 2!
