All the (then) popular references in this book become annoying quickly. I myself am a big Star Wars fan and can relate to wanting to face the evil's of the universe with a lightsaber in hand, but still this aspect of the book is a bit grating. The series is obviously written for children. Written to guide them, through puberty, among other things. Written to make them interested in science. And otherwise written in a style downplayed to their supposed ability. The story itself is not as exciting as the others. their is a lot of lead up, with most of the excitement happening in the last few pages. Also our heroes from the past two books barely have a part at all, and though we were all ready to learn about Darine's rise, we were more ready for a joint venture a gradual introduction, not this sudden leap.

When Nita’s 10 year old sister Dareen discovers she’s a wizard – her manual is a new laptop computer – Nita and Kit have to go after her to keep her from getting in too much trouble. Again, Duane has written an excellent book with shades of the book of Genesis.

I love Dairine. I love Gigo. I love this series and I'm so glad my kid is letting me read it to them.

I thought I read this whole series as a kid but I'm realizing 1) there's a lot more than I suppose my library had at the time and 2) I definitely would've remembered this one if I had read it! space, aliens, robot life, epic ancient forces...

I found this book profoundly moving, as well as enthralling and entertaining.

Eh. 3.5 stars but I'm still not enjoying the Christian allegory. It's also dated, seriously 80's centric. This was the best one so far but I liked the scifi aspect more than the weird nature witch stuff.

Easily my favorite book in the series, because I'm a sucker for magi-tech and redeemable Satan.
