wow. wow wow wow wow wow.

this was book was so, so good. i don’t think i have the words to describe how much i loved this book, to say everything i loved about it.

this book handles topics such as rape culture, sexism, internalized misogyny etc., but it’s also about beautiful female friendships, complicated, messy feelings & all the typical shit everyone goes through when they’re young.

i really really loved the characters. Alex, Claire (a.k.a. Peekay), Jack, Park, and even Branley. i loved how complex, how real they were.

the writing style was utterly captivating, the short chapters making me want to fly through the book all at once.

the ending made me shed a few tears, i’m not gonna lie. but that’s how i like my books – i want them to make me feel things.

all in all, this was a wonderful experience. i sincerely enjoyed every moment spent reading this book, and i didn’t feel bored or underwhelmed once.

“But boys will be boys, our favorite phrase that excuses so many things, while the only thing we have for the opposite gender is women, said with disdain and punctuated with an eye roll.”

I really love this book. It’s a very difficult read, but it’s so important. It examines rape culture in many different ways. I honestly really liked Alex as a character. She was interesting and I loved seeing how she was growing as a person. Jack for the most part I liked, but he made me uncomfortable and annoyed at parts(the point). I really loved his and Alex’s relationship. I did enjoy peekay as a character as well and her friendship with Alex, and Sara and Alex and peekays friendship.
