Even though I already read this, my hatred for Grace has doubled 1000 times.

*4.5 I really enjoyed this one. I loved getting to read about Will, Tessa, and Jem again. I've missed these characters so much since finishing the Infernal Devices last year. I read Shadowhunter Academy prior to The Bane Chronicles, so this novella makes me very curious about what has happened to James Herondale.

Before starting this whole collection of short novellas I was kind of hesitant about it . On the first hand Magnus is one of my favorite characters and on the other hand I wanted to start other series. But thank god I decided to read them . I am so happy I have read this one . This is lifee. I did not expect to see Jem , Tessa and Will again . I can not describe the pain I feel inside my heart whenever I read the last name Heronadale . With each and every novela especially this one and th last one , we get so close to the Herondale family . We met Will's father and noww we got to see Will as a father and his son James , It's just heartbreaking for me .
Will is my weakness . And he will be for ever .

i mean, it’s fine. it’s clearly the prequel and the setup for some plot in chain of gold, but all of james herondales appeal from nothing but shadows appears to have evaporated along with any sense he had. also matthew fairchild & co were strangely absent from these 44 pages. it’s not really a whole novella/short story as it reads more like a prologue

I have so many questions for Chain of Gold now that I have reread this installment. HAHA. The Will-Tessa-Jem moment brought tears to my eyes, yet again. BY THE ANGEL it seems like I will never stop crying whenever those three have a scene.

I plan to read the rest of The Bane Chronicles next year. The only reason I read this was a sentence I encountered on Instagram and let me tell you: this got me really excited for The Last Hours. I was sorta scared that one of my favourite characters ever will be different (in a bad way) and I do not want to taint my love for him. Thankfully, this did not happen, if anything my love for him got greater.
Alas, not everything can be perfect. I am sorry for my baby James, whatever's up, he did not deserve it, but I am ready to find out.
