Am I reading this because my heart was broken watching the anime? I will not comment on that at this time. Am I hoping beyond hope that things will turn out happier in the manga somehow? Again, I will not comment on that at this time.

I think I'm used to a certain style when it comes to shojo manga, and Banana Fish defiantly is not that. And I love it! I love the dynamic between Ash and Eiji, and they don't even meet till halfway through the 1st volume. It also has some very funny humor considering the material the story covers.

i love this manga so much, all of it 😭💗 mostly because of ash, i've had an obsession with him ever since i first discovered banana fish. he's just such a complex character and i love his personality and the fact that i can very much find him relatable. also a big fan of eiji and yutlung. eiji because obviously and yutlung because he's a complicated person and therefore interesting to read about. huge fan ♡

A little hard to get into at first. Very dialogue-heavy. It‘s also quite dark and deals with some very heavy topics (some of which caught me off guard). But I‘m a sucker for crime mysteries and there is a lot of that here already that has my interest.
