Fast-paced fun, if you like killer androids, and who doesn't? The characters are colorful though rather thin. I quite liked the world-building, and the noir elements worked well. It reads very much as a setup for a sequel, but so far there doesn't seem to be one in the works.

I couldn't get into half of the story. While the narrator did an excellent job with his many voices, the robot was just too wierd/vulgar for me.

I picked this up on a whim at the airport and it didn't disappoint. In fact, it seemed to match the blurb on the back exactly with a few plot twists and turns, of course.

The world-building was great, if substantially influenced by works that have come before, the villains suitably creepy, the suspects shifty, and the protagonist someone the reader could support.

Bring on the next lunar detective story!

Entertaining read, in a noir detective story way. Don’t expect deep philosophical questions to arise.

I am not a science fiction guy but, I enjoyed this. The plot was okay but it was suspenseful and had plenty of action. Leonardo Black was frightening. I did have a difficult time wrapping my head around the idea of hotels, casinos, tourists and driving mustangs on the moon. But, that wasn't enough for me to stop reading the book or enjoying it. Ending was a big surprise. All in all, not bad.

This was a lot of fun! Especially because of the android all too happy to wreak havoc on criminals, colonists and researchers on the moon alike. Meanwhile, a law-abiding, seemingly incorruptible lieutenant is caught between a dodgy battle of power he knows nothing about in a city known for its utter lawlessness. That made for quite an interesting read. Even still, some parts of it are predictable which fortunately, the non-stop plot makes up for well enough.

The intense violence, absolutely free of any kind of inhibitions, really blows the mind at times (even in a place where it's expected since it's made for shady people by even shadier people). Moreover, the setting keeps changing in terms of atmospheres and imagery so there's always something new to look forward to. It's all clearly well-executed since all of it is happening on a largely desolate surface of the moon. In all, 'lunar gothic' mystery is really the best way to categorize this book.

I received this from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

3 1/2 stars

As I was reading this, I kept thinking to myself, "I could see this being made into a movie, except that they would completely ruin it." And I finish it only to find out that yep, it's been optioned to be made into a movie. So, here's hoping that they don't ruin it.

It's a brisk sci-fi thriller with a hint noir. It's got some decent world-building, interesting characters, and break-neck action. If you enjoy your science fiction with some mysteries, androids, and cults, you'll definitely find something to like in here.
