While my favorite of Robert’s books is still Neon Gods—I don’t think anything can top that one—this was still a good book. I liked Jasmine, liked watching her break free of her cages and grow more confident over the course of the story. I quite liked Megara and Tink, and am excited to see more of them. As for Jafar, I was mostly indifferent toward him, though I can appreciate his subtle character development. Great final plot twists—I was NOT expecting that betrayal or that murder—and a satisfying ending.
A couple of extra thoughts unrelated to my rating: I wasn’t a fan of Jasmine calling Jafar “daddy” (it’s weird to me, sorry not sorry) or of Jafar’s narrator in the audiobook. His voice was really low and raspy and honestly kind of creepy. Thankfully, he didn’t have very many chapters.

Jasmine grew up confined to her father’s estate, and was often emotionally and occasionally physically abused by him.ohkimly's review

Delightful smut, but I think I have to resign myself to the fact that I won't get all I'm looking for from a Katee Robert book. (Which breaks my heart a little, since I adore her.)
For Jasmine, narrator Lessa Lamb was a dream.
For Jafar, narrator Jack Calihan really did not do it for me. His voice was SO deep and harsh in its delivery...it kind of sounded like he wasn't fully comfortable with the material, or thought he had to push over-the-topness onto it. The text is over the top by itself, it doesn't need any help!

Depictions of consensual nonconsent; heroine's father is murdered offscreen but we hear about it later; the villain hits Jasminesarahsbooklife's review

the whole concept of Mordern AUs where disney princesses end up in bdsm relationships with their villains is so fucking hilarious to me
like this was almost a little too much in the submission kink department for me (i will Never understand the appeal of baby girl/ daddy) but i didn’t exactly come here to kink shame did i 🤷🏻♀️ also the ending was kinda nice even if it was rushed but i guess the main focus in this book is not the plot

Moderate: Sexism and Sexual assault
