A very compelling book that pulls you in right from the start. The tale of Offred and how she is trapped in the society of Gilead is unsettling at times, probably due to the fact that all of this is probable in the near future. I am highly interested to read "The Testament" now.

You’re kidding me right????,!,?!!!? Girl I nEED TO KNOW HOW THIS IS ALL RESOLVED. omg. Anyway, this book is incredibly thought provoking and I don’t think there’s anything really new I can add to the discussing. I will say, my professor saw me reading it and said something along the lines of; you reading this book now is probably so much more terrifying than when I read it when it first came out. When I read it 30 years ago the idea of something like this being reality was so far fetched but in current politics real things related to the concepts in the book are happening. And her saying that was scarier than the book itself

Goddamn. I am not a fan of the ending, but I get it.
I’m so used to dystopian YA that part of my body thought she and Nick would somehow topple the system. It’s definitely a terrifying book to me, on a level I have rarely experienced.

The most amazing thing about this book is that Atwood gives a voice to the hidden insecurities and anxieties deep within the psyche of many women, as well as detailing the complexities in the dynamics between men and women.
