+++In Short:
I finished and sat there. Five minutes later I had to ask myself 'ARE YOU STILL BREATHING?'

+++Summary:
(back cover) She Has Everything She Ever Wanted. But Not Her Memory...

When Chloe fell asleep in study hall, it was the middle of May. When she wakes up, snow is on the ground and she can't remember the last six months of her life.

Before, she'd been a mediocre student. Now, she's on track for valedictorian and being recruited by Ivy League schools. Before, she never had a chance with super jock Blake. Now he's her boyfriend. Before, she and Maggie were inseparable. Now her best friend won't speak to her.

What happened to her? Remembering the truth could be more dangerous than she knows...

+++The Goods:
Oh. My gosh. If you want a book that will thrill without being a thriller, this is for you. Literally, I couldnt stop reading this and was totally on the edge of my seat. I really can't say more, but author of Hate List and Thousand Words, Jennifer Brown sums it up perfectly: "Filled with tension and heart-in-your-throat suspense that kept me guessing until the very end."
I must say though, I really adored and hated Adam. You'll see why...
Keeps. You. Guessing.

+++ The 'Eh's
I couldn't figure out if it was sci-fi/world ending/aliens/etc or not. But here's a spoiler: just kidding, I'm not telling you if it is or not. The only 'eh's is that it is not deep like The Book Thief. But that's not really an 'eh'. It's just the type of book it is.
And the cover. The cover my copy has is working and it's a lot better. Because that is NOT how I imagined Chloe.

This was a good book! I finished it in 24 hours after beginning to read it. I had my suspensions and literally was not at all expecting the ending! I love Adam and Chloe together!

I kept going back and forth between 2 and 3 stars so I’ll just leave it at 2.5

This book was so bland at the beginning? And then kinda (really) outrageous as it progressed? I really enjoyed some of Richards’ other books so I was hoping for that level of enjoyment in this one but didn’t get it. The writing was pretty infuriating as it kept circling around giving any solid answers, and not in a good / specially-curated way that leaves you on the edge of your seat yearning to see what’s next.

But it did somehow manage to keep me up way past my bedtime as I tried to speed through it so I could move on with my life, so I guess there’s that.

Overall
An interesting mystery with thrilling events and compelling characters.

First Line

I’m sitting next to the fire alarm, and my best friend is going down in flames. --eARC edition

Plot
If you’re a fan of mysteries you’ll love this book. I was thoroughly lost at first. Chloe does a very good job of working through her dilemma. Since this was a mystery I cannot comment on very much of the plot, only that is well written and very well thought out.
Setting

Nothing spectacular setting wise. The book played out much like a great mystery thriller movie so Natalie did very well with her descriptions.

Writing
Written in first person from Chloe’s point of view. I would have loved to have seen some scenes from Adam’s point of view or even Maggie’s.

Originality
Very original for me. Other than reading some time travel books I haven’t read anything where memory is lost like this. I loved the mystery element. I usually do not enjoy mysteries because some writers make it painfully obvious of what’s going on, which is not the case in this book. I had suspicions but nothing concrete to where I was yelling at the book.

Characters
Chloe is having a rough time and she comes off as super strong and powerful. She copes so well with everything that is thrown at her. Her parents come off as a bit creepy. Chloe has two boys in her life: Blake and Adam. I loved Adam, not so much Blake.

Chloe’s best friend Maggie is pretty cool. I wish we would have seen a bit more of her.

Romance
Chloe’s relationship with Blake is what it is. Adam is adorable, sweet, protective and attractive.

Title/Cover Bonus
Not my most favorite cover ever.

Ending
Everything was wrapped up nicely.

Series
Doesn’t look to be a series as of yet but I wouldn’t mind going back into another mystery with Chloe and Friends!
