The characters were developed nicely, their different problems were well written and are definitely relatable to some readers who have experienced the same things.
I like the fact this series is about women who are in their late twenties, it's a refreshing twist for the romance genre since some of the characters in this series talk about how they still don't know what they're doing with their lives sometimes.
Some problems with this book was the writing for the sex scenes weren't good at all. It does get better with the later books! But this one, made me cringe so much. I'm sorry, who uses "mound" and thinks that's sexy?! And I hate the trope "it was a bet". To start off a romance like that feels very lazy and cheapens the relationship.
Also there was a lack of diversity in this book. Sure there was a lot of good rep for the lgbtq community, but there was nothing else. One very minor black character and that's it. As someone who has now read the books, this does get better, but not by a lot.
Overall this was a good sapphic romance. All of the characters weren't one-dimensional, they all had some depth, the romance was very sweet and it's a good start to the already completed series.

What prevented me from rating this higher is that I did not love the way Claire treated Delilah through most of the book (she’s constantly lying to everyone and trying to hide their relationship) or how the third act breakup was handled. If those aspects had been handled differently I would have enjoyed this far more than I did.

Astrid's fiance is a misogynist, emotionally manipulative douche canoe. Her mom, Delilah's stepmom, is icy and controlling.
