I have had this on my TBR list forever, but just now got around to it. I love B&B mysteries and I would secretly (not so secret anymore!) love to run one. I was excited for this one, but didn't love it nearly as much as I thought. Maybe it was listening to it on audio, but it didn't catch my interest right away. I like the premise a lot and I loved the addition of Max, but the other characters didn't draw me in. I am going to continue with the series, because I have hopes that I will be more invested in the next one. I am hoping the characters continue to develop, and I would love to know more about the ghosty haunting the home!

Melanie and her grandma, Liza have decided to move south to a small coastal town in Oregon and open a B&B. When they start renovating they find a long dead body plastered up in one of the bedrooms. They need to solve the murder in order to be able to open their B&B, and while investigating another murder occurs!

Cute book. I love cozy mysteries and always enjoy finding one with a ghost. I look forward to reading more in this series.

This seemed almost like an adult cozy for children. The plot was formulaic, the case was simple, the clue was easily spotted, etc. The adult parts all happened in the past; the present is all PG. Even the ghost was super lame. The only thing I liked about this whole book was the dog. And I pretty much like all dogs.
