I think teens will connect most to this book. The setting for this book is long in my past, though I had similar struggles in some ways. I think most teens do.

Great art, very serious topics.

Honest and heartfelt, In Limbo captures something ephemeral about the high school experience, of being young and feeling out of place no matter where you are, the pressures to be more than what you are even though you don't even know what you are yet. The paneling is expressive, asking the reader to sit in the emotions that Lee draws, to feel the quiet spaces and uncertainty that permeated that time of their life. Minus a few places of clunky dialogue, the storytelling is immersive and the interpersonal relationships real and sympathetic. This book made me think back to my own high school uncertainties, the conflicts and hurts I am still healing from. But as much as it is a book of hurts, In Limbo is even more so a story of growth and hope. With such a beautiful debut, I look forward to Lee's future creative projects and the stories they will tell.

I didn’t know what to expect with this other than the gorgeous illustrations. The toxic family and mental health landscape of this book are brutally honest. I don’t know if I enjoyed it in the traditional sense but it touched me. I highly recommend this.

It's all wrapped up in its feelings, which is the point. My favorite parts were at the very end, with the therapeutic insights.

This debut coming-of-age graphic memoir deals with loneliness, domestic abuse, depression, microaggressions, friendships, and finding and forgiving yourself. Deb feels stuck in limbo, between her identity as both Korean and American, and often feels like "the other." In Limbo provides a poignant picture of the struggles of adolescence.

This was a quick read. In fact, it was almost too quick. I wish there were more, as I wanted some of the themes to be developed even further. I'm glad the author gives a little bit of "epilogue" at the end, though.

The art is beautiful. The blue color took me by surprise at first, but I grew to love it. I found the style perfect for the tone of the book. It's almost like sketchy watercolor.

Overall, this is a great memoir, and it's very re-readable. It's evocative, emotional, and ultimately hopeful. Highly recommend.
