I think that only using different shades of blue to tell the story, was an incredible choice. It sets the mood (gloomy, nostalgic, as we reminiscent the life and struggles of the author) but it also shows it's beauty. I shed a few tears with some of the last panels, and could relate a lot to the mental health issues portrayed in the graphic novel. I found myself reflecting in a sad state after finishing it, as I am still recovering from my own experiences too. The other topics discussed here were also poignant and saddening (racism, domestic abuse, self harm, suicide attempts, the weight of other's expectations on us, not feeling like being part of any community, not finding your place in the world, loss of friendships...)

The art is beautiful in this graphic memoir and the story is so poignant. It explores mental health, living between two cultures, friendship, growing up and becoming your authentic self.

Para alguém que tem tentado ler livros mais diversos este foi um bom começo.

Este coming of age graphic deixe-nos a meio de uma história com muitos altos e baixos de alguém que tenta o seu melhor mas que ainda comete erros, gostava de ter aprofundado mais algumas das relações mas acredito que esse fosse o objetivo.

Beautiful art, based on a true story, I think that I still have some questions about what happened but because it’s based off of the authors life I think that’s the point!
