Nothing against the book! I liked it! But there was something about the book that made me get bored and stop reading. Then I would pick it back up and start reading again and get into it but then a couple chapters would bore me. I like the idea of the book, but I wouldn't say it was super awesome sauce.

I will finish the series because I am curious how it will end. Especially with what the author left off in the this first book Storm Siren.

I know this book was not a OHH I LOVE THIS BOOK kind of book because when the author killed off certain characters I didn't cry.. I didn't really feel sad which is a big hint that the author didn't make me feel connected/close to the characters. I know I really love a book when I cry over people dying. I really know I am in love with a book when I cry over a character that's not even important. Only crying because the main character is crying! That's a good book!

Storm siren did not do that for me. but still was a decent book :)

The plot twists don't feel emotional or well thought out. More like the shock twist in a telanovella. So if you're into that kind of thing. . .Also certain important characters lack depth. But the plot is mildly entertaining and the writing style is nice.

I had every intention of listening to this before I started Storm Siren but alas...it didn't happen. Regardless, it was good to get back into the story and be reminded about all the things that happened in book one.

Nicely written, but I didn't feel the romance or connect to the characters.

Not the worst thing I've ever read. This book suffered from something a lot if young adult novels do; the main character obsesses about her love interest's body even in the midst of life or death situations. Can you imagine how the Hunger Games would have been if Katniss had been dreaming about Peeta's abs while friends and allies were dropping dead around her? This sort of writing makes a main character look like an idiot. This book also has waaaay to obvious villains. When one of the bad guys hisses like a snake in casual conversation, you know you've gone too far. They are constantly spouting declarations of evilness like comic book supervillains. I was actually hoping the author was trying to trick us and make those who seemed like bad guys actually good guys and vice versa. But nope. The blatantly evil people are in fact villains.

Well, first, this cover is gorgeous!

This book was fantastic.
Loved the epicness of the setting.
The elemental powers of a select few characters was awesome.

Nym was an awesome character. She is strong, yet struggles with self control and acceptance of her ability.

Eogan, Nym's elemental trainer, was very cool. I enjoyed him a great deal.
I had a hard time picturing him. He's very dark skinned, yet he had jagged dark bangs as well as bright emerald eyes.

Colin and Breck were outstanding supporting characters.

I ended up loving the warhorses. How cool were they!?

The only other thing I have to mention is: THE ENDING!!!!!!

ZOMG. WHUT!?

How can I possibly read the next book with that ending?
I feel so defeated but I just know Nym will come out on top, right?
