I really wanted to like this book, but it just didn’t do it for me. I won’t be finishing the series.

Set in a supernatural world of demons and angels, the plot is a tired one.  River has no flaws and is of course the chosen savior of the world, special because of her lineage and gifts.
The virginal heroine is also the fated mate of a 1600 year old demon, whose emotional abuse is thinly disguised as sexy possessiveness and something that he can’t help because it’s ingrained in his DNA.
I’m so tired of the tropes and Brenda’s writing doesn’t help anything. Her dialogue is ripe with clichés and the love scenes just made me cringe. And I LOVE a good raunchy sex scene, so the fact that I couldn’t find anything fun in these says something, believe me. The two protagonists have no chemistry and I didn’t believe in their cause or their character. I can’t imagine what the rest of the series is like because this whole story could probably just been one book.
