A really fascinating read, these almost slice of life stories that Chambers does, but they just work their way in to you. Reminds me a little bit of the Emily St. John Mandel books I read earlier this year.

This definitely felt more character-driven than the previous two books in the series. We've got a new cast again (I miss Rosemary!) but by the end they had grabbed my heart.

Although I didn’t quite love this book as much as I did ‘a close and common orbit’ (that one is hard to top for me though, I absolutely adored it), this book was still wonderful.

Wayfarers is a science fiction series, set in a time and place very far from our own. Yet the stories, the emotions and the people are so real and recognisable. And I just want to eat up every single detail of this universe that Becky has created, as I have mentioned before, she has the most incredible imagination.

I never thought I would enjoy a character-focused series so much as I do this one (I have always favoured plot-based books in the past) but Becky has really changed that for me.

I am sad I only have one more book left to read.

This one didn’t captivate me as much as the first two - it fell a little flat for me. I think it could be because it focused on more on plot related to separate characters, and not as much in-depth character development and found family like in the first two. I liked that there were younger and older characters though, and it was still fun and interesting with beautiful bits of writing.

I enjoyed this too, but found it a slower read than the previous ones. It was a bit more challenging to keep track of all the different characters.

📖 Record of a Spaceborn Few by Becky Chambers Book Review 📖

9th and last book of August 2022 and 26th of the year:

Like all Becky Chambers books, this one had amazing world-building, lyrical writing, a great audiobook, queer representation, a queernormative world, great sex work representation, and beautiful conversations around humanity and how important communication and learning about different cultures are. There are a lot of point of views, and it was a bit confusing at first, but as the book went along, I got used to it and grew to like it and the characters. The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet is still my favorite, but I highly recommend the whole series, and I can’t wait to read more books in it! TW for death, mass death, child death, death of a parent, alcohol, drug use, sexual content, xenophobia, grief, vomit, and medical content📚🚀🔭🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️
