This book altered my brain chemistry in my sophomore year of college, and I've been too afraid to go back and read it since. I had called it a favorite book, but I've read more books since then, so we would have to see if it holds up lol

Explores ideas of madness and insanity and is a recurring motif in the book. Particularly made me think about indifference from society and how society decides madness. Madness is not a bad thing but rather delineated in a romanticised way.
I like the knock on effect of Veronikas death on other people because it is displayed as their wake-up call to live life.
Don't focus on education and see that life, at its core, is about futfillness.

started off really strong but the pacing becomes unnecessarily slow towards the end
