I really enjoyed this book and binged it pretty fast. I was left wanting more and immediately moved to another book of hers after and binged that too. I will definitely be reading more of her works in the future! I like that it is something I can relate to, being in a STEM field myself, which gave it the element that I need to maintain interest in more contemporary things (something that gives the characters a factor that is more than just normal ass people doing stuff, like how Icebreakers is all hockey players or Heist Society is professional art thieves).
I am planning on reading more of these books whenever I have that romance itch :)

The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood tells the story of Olive Smith, 3rd year PhD student, who blindly ends up kissing Professor Adam Carlsen and they start to fake date, which becomes a equally beneficial for them both!
This novel is a field galore of romantic tropes and stereotypes! Was it repetitive and annoying at times? Yes. However, it was a fun read with a little bit of spice and some lovely characters in Olive's friends, Anh and Malcolm, supporting her through think and thin.
I borrowed a copy of this book from Taunton Library and listened to it on Spotify. I read this for prompt 6, women in STEM, for the 52 Book Club Reading Challenge 2024.

However, I could see the Reylo fanfic origin from a million miles away. And why must modern romance authors continuously emphasize throughout the whole book how physically large their male protagonists are? “He’s big, humongous, gigantic, imposing. He’s so big. Did I mention he’s a giant?” The way Adam (lol… in case you missed that this was a Reylo fanfic, let’s name him Adam) was described, I kept thinking, “he must not be a human.” I did find his character to be quite endearing. On the other hand, I got frustrated with Olive at about the 60% mark in the book. Some of her decisions really made me question her intelligence. The side characters were fun. I appreciated the diverse cast and LGBTQ+ representation.

I went into this with low expectations, not expecting much of out of the romance but hoping it would at least be funny. The first 20% of it was entertaining, so I was somewhat positive about the story, but then everything went downhill from there. It was just so boring! Also, I didn't like any of the characters, mostly because of how bland they were. Adam was just a boring love interest, and Olive wasn't much better of a character. Her friends were just overly annoying? I just didn't feel emotionally connected to ANY of the characters ever. Also a lot of the plot points just felt weird and wildly unrealistic. Don't get me started on the sex scene, that was like nails on a chalkboard bad. I had to force myself to keep reading for a friend.
However, there were scraps of a good story in here, and I could understand why other people like it. I also can understand that this book isn't utter trash, it just wasn't for me.
