The story between Adam and Olive is so cute! All the things they do and the reference that it’s turning into the stereotypical romance plot by the characters was so funny. I love their relationship
and the fact that they had met before when Olive was applying
. Even though there is an age gap it’s still quite cute. There was a quite graphic sex scene but it was kind of necessary to show the development of their relationship.
I like that there wasn’t really any point in the story when they hated each other but I kind of wished there was a bit more of it. Tom’s betrayal at the end was appalling the way he treated Olive and i’m a bit annoyed she didn’t realize she had taped it earlier
It was so cute and i loved it so much!

I found this to be fine. The writing was decent, and I enjoyed the academic setting. I thought the reasons for fake dating were believable enough that it worked for the story. I did find the characters a bit flat, and sort hard to connect with. I also don't think the balance between he's misunderstood and also has been horrible to people was done well. In terms of the romance, while the professional power dynamic was acknowledged and discussed, I just still found it a bit ick, especially with the big age gap.

I did think she did a good job of the ending, especially with
Olive eventually reporting Tom's sexual harassment. I thought it really managed to respect why many women don't report and the fact many aren't believed while still providing Olive herself with a good resolution in which is is emphatically believed
.

This was a lot better than I expected it to be since I am usually not a fan of anything contemporary or anything where the main genre is romance (unless it is scifi/fantasy). I really liked Olive as a main character and Adam was funny with how quiet and awkward he is. The only thing I knew about Ali Hazelwood before reading this was that a lot of her work is alternate universe fan fiction of Rey and Kylo Ren. I probably would not have noticed that on my own but it makes a lot of sense.

I really enjoyed this book and binged it pretty fast. I was left wanting more and immediately moved to another book of hers after and binged that too. I will definitely be reading more of her works in the future! I like that it is something I can relate to, being in a STEM field myself, which gave it the element that I need to maintain interest in more contemporary things (something that gives the characters a factor that is more than just normal ass people doing stuff, like how Icebreakers is all hockey players or Heist Society is professional art thieves).

I am planning on reading more of these books whenever I have that romance itch :)

As a woman in STEM, I LOVED all the references to grad school, academia and STEM.

I really wasn't sure this would love up to the hype or I'd like it as much as her other books but I loved it. Adam and Olive are just so enchanting and I love the chemistry between them.
