In fifth grade, I wanted something challenging to read. My Mom handed me this book, which was my Grandpa's, and she told me that I would think it was funny. I didn't only think this book was funny, I thought it was one of the best things I had ever read. It was truthful, satirical, and I could relate to it. This book wasn't some far-fetched idea, or a story that took place before my grandparents were even born. This book I identified with, and I loved every bit of it.

I received this book many many years ago as a gift and not sure for what special occasion. I finally read/skimmed it this weekend and its a mere collection of ramblings and mundane nuggets. Which led to my own rambling musings. Why is this a considered a popular gift book? And I wonder if the giver ever read it? Maybe I should publish my teen journal with updates and improvements.

Half of it I really enjoyed; the other half annoyed me. Either way, I admire the way he can find deeper philosophical meaning/analogies in everyday occurrences. Each chapter is only a couple pages long, a good book to pick up and flip to a random section.

The chapter about Christmas caroling/trick-or-treating brought me immense joy, I was grinning at my book so hard. Chapters like that pushed this from 2.5 to 3 stars.

I think I would've liked it more if I had read the physical copy instead of listened to it
