I can be very hit or miss on OSR ttrpgs, but this was a hit. There's some great stuff: the idea of a magician's "spellbook" being a cavern or stone circle or similar, carved with runes and painted with designs, was so great that I'm putting it in other games, too. The idea of building up a tribe and settlement as a key and low level part of the game is really good too; often settlement building is a high level game play choice and having it start at 2nd level is delightful. This aspect is also well developed and supported, so I'm happy with that. The split of damage between Grit, which is short term and represents getting tired or avoiding the worst hard, and Flesh, which is when you actually get cut/beat/burned, is another good decision that makes me like the game more.
