wow. i cant even begin to describe how amazing every single one of these essays were. from the estranged mothers to the best friends, i found pieces of my relationship with my mom and every single person i know’s relationship to theirs. holding on to my saint of a mother extra tight after this read

Relationships with mothers are difficult complex and overworked, the ideology of the mother is somewhat shameful when I recount all the things I expect from one. This book gave room to express those feelings and connect with similar stories to mine.

Loved this one! Through 15 diverse essays, this book explored the beautiful and often complex relationships children have with their mothers and how this evolves (for better or worse) into adulthood. I resonated with parts of quite a few of these essays. My favourite essay was the one written by one of my favourite Sri Lankan authors, Nayomi Munaweera.
