I read this short chapter book to my daughter and we both really enjoyed it.

Sadiq and his family are Somali-American and Somali words are included throughout (with a glossary at the beginning). The book includes a diverse set of characters. Some characters are also depicted with hijabs, which is not often represented in kid’s books.

Sadiq goes on a hike with his family and enjoys it so much he decides to start an explorers club with his friends. They have a field guide and try to identify plants and bugs they find. My daughter loved this as she also tries to identify every bug she finds

Once again, Sadiq has brought together a short-lived club, this time to explore the great outdoors. They look around the local park and neighborhood to see what nature is there. They make a scavenger hunt for the block party which is a good activity to engage younglings in.
