Review:

This one’s been sat on my Kindle for ages, and I’ve kept on putting it aside in favour of more interesting sounding titles. However, I’ve recently decided to clear out my TBR pile, and this was one of the first to go. I’m going to admit, I went in expecting trashy chick-lit – almost a palate cleanser to all the YA and paranormal romance I’ve been reading recently. However, this was a lot darker than I was expecting.

This book has some seriously adult themes, including depression, death and drug taking (though, not generally mixed together). Those who aren’t comfortable with homosexuality should also avoid this one – as a lot of CC’s (the main character) friends are gay.

In general, I actually really enjoyed this book. Admittedly, it took me a while to get into, but despite being almost double my age, I felt like I could relate to her. Especially with being the single one amongst attached friends! I felt that this was a credit to the author’s writing, given aside that we had very little in common.

Basically, I’m not going into a ridiculous amount of detail, but this one was a nice filler, but not as light and fluffy as other books within the genre – though for me, that was probably a good thing!

Good read, and a bargain on Kindle!

What a great book! Nick Alexander creates the most realistic characters. Fully dimensional, faults and all. I highly recommend anything by him, and can't wait to see what he comes up with next!

I really enjoyed this book. CC is such a deep character, her Dad died in front of her when she was very young and het brother committed suicide when she was a teenager. She was hurt very badly by a previous partner, and feels like she is missing an important part of her life. Great book, am now on the look out for more of Nick Alexander's books.

A friend recommended The French House and since I haven't heard of this author before, I looked him up and learned that it's the 2nd book in a series. The Case of the Missing Boyfriend is the 1st so I opted to read them in order. The CC in this book is not somebody I like or admire. She's vain, shallow, self-centered and rather callous to those she calls friends. Normally, I would set a book like this down after the third chapter but decided to continue so I'd get a feel for her before reading the other book. By the end of the book, I still didn't like her even though we were given more insight into why she is the way she is. I prefer reading series in order but definitely encourage others to skip this one and go straight to The French House because if you're like me, you'll like that one better.

A very easy to read book. Nick Alexander writes a woman's perspective incredibly well. Well worth reading if you're into chick lit!

Been on my Kindle for years. Not sure why I didn't read it before. Nothing special but not a bad read
