Biased because I'm a sucker for happy endings and this is my 12yo sisters favourite book.

I could really relate with the parts of him going stealth or being out. It's a constant question for my own safety.

I really loved how one of the main characters is a poc. I liked how they contrasted in their home lives and how one of them is transgender. Also, I liked the football aspect of the book's storyline and how it wasn't drawn out. i.e the author got to the point and made it interesting and fun to read.

How I wish there had been stories like this published by mainstream publishers when I was a kid. This book is an honest and gentle story of personhood and change. Even characters we are meant to hate or distrust are treated with grace. I read it in one sitting. Well done.
