This one was okay.

I feel like it would have been better if Sam and Dean had been in it more. There was so much about the other characters in it, which I know parts of that were necessary to the story, but a lot of it I felt was unnecessary. It didn't really get interesting until probably the last 100 pages.

While I enjoyed John Passarella's previous Supernatural book, Night Terror, he ups his game here in Rite of Passage. You can read my full review at HorrorTalk.com.

This book it set in the 7th season of Supernatural.

If you've watched the TV show you'll find yourself comparing the Sam, Dean etc on the TV to the novel versions and it will literally drive you insane so try going in to these books with an open mind and you might find them more enjoyable.

It starts off a bit boring but as you go on you find yourself becoming more engrossed in it so stick with it.

What I will say though is that the ending felt pretty rushed and kind of just had everything muddled which annoyed me.

I love reading these stories about things that are happening between the episodes of Supernatural. While there were a few factual errors in this book, and I found parts of the story a little dull, I was excited to figure out what the MOTW was and what its end game might be.

Fairly solid, at least for the first half. It dragged on a little long by the end and, like others have said, there were way too many original characters. I do appreciate the idea that the author tried to break the mold. These tie-ins can get a bit cookie-cutter at times.
