I came to care so much about the characters by this book. The action scenes were definitely interesting, but I cried every time Miss Peregrine was advising Jacob or Addison was doing something brave. I hope I see more of that in the second trilogy Ransom Riggs did. Though I'm not 100% it's something I want to read, because this book was wrapped up so well (that's a compliment!)

I wish we had heard about the library of souls earlier in this trilogy, because it felt like something Riggs came up with on the spot. It kind of reminds me of how in Harry Potter the deathly hallows were introduced so late, which I hated. Everything we had established about the wights' plans was brushed away as lies and false information. Also, when I look back on the second book, I realize it did almost nothing for the plot at all... we got new characters and developed the original ones, but the one event that mattered to the series happened in the very last chapter of the book and really could've happened anytime before that. Which makes me really not want to reread it in the future.

I'll give this book specifically 4.5 stars but the series as a whole probably a little lower because of the sudden plot change.

I really enjoyed this book. The world and characters are just so peculiar and different that it makes me happy. I love reading something different that is unlike anything I’ve ever read before.

I would highly recommend this book and now I’m looking forward to reading Map of Days, hopefully soon but I think I’m going to take a break from this world for a while.
